Ndali Bible (New Testament) (NDHWBT)

Overview

The Ndali New Testament (ULwitikano uLupya) was completed in 2020, together with the Old Testament books of Ruth and Jonah, as part of the Mbeya Cluster Project — a collaborative Bible translation initiative launched by SIL Tanzania around 2004 that brought together translation teams from six neighboring language communities in southwestern Tanzania's Mbeya region [1][4]. The Ndali community had independently formed their own language board years before the cluster project began, reflecting longstanding demand for Scripture in the Ndali language [2]. The translation team included Safari M., Imani M., and Boniface M. as translators, with Pitrosi K. serving as Literacy/Scripture Use coordinator, representing Moravian, MEC, and Baptist churches [2]. Before publication, the New Testament underwent an intensive 15-day read-through with two pastors and twelve local reviewers [1]. Following the New Testament's completion, the Ndali community drafted a plan to manage its own Old Testament translation project [3].
