Ndali Audio Bible Portions — Malawi (NDHWFT)

Overview

This resource contains audio Bible portions in Ndali produced by The Word For The World and distributed through the Faith Comes By Hearing platform for the Ndali-speaking community of northern Malawi [1]. Ndali (Icindali) is spoken in the Chitipa and Karonga districts of northern Malawi as well as in adjacent parts of Tanzania, where a parallel New Testament project (NDHWBT) was completed in 2020 through the SIL Tanzania Mbeya Cluster Project [2]. The Malawian Ndali community has long expressed a desire for Scripture in their own language; community leaders have described the need as urgent given that the Ndali people are a third-generation Christian community requiring mother-tongue resources for discipleship and teaching [3]. The Word For The World has worked extensively in the Chitipa district through related translation projects, including the Lambya New Testament published in 2016, and these audio portions extend that engagement to the Ndali speech community specifically [1]. Though Ndali and Lambya are distinct languages, ChiLambya is understood by many Ndali speakers in the cross-border Chitipa region [1].
