Northern Thai Lanna Bible Translation (NODWBT)
Overview
The Northern Thai New Testament (พระคริสตธรรมคัมภีร ภาคพันธสัญญาใหม) is a 2017 translation published by Wycliffe Bible Translators, through the Wycliffe Thai Foundation, for speakers of Northern Thai (also known as Lanna, Tai Yuan, Kham Muang, or Khon Mueang), a language with approximately 7.8 million speakers primarily in northern Thailand. [1][2] It presents the text in parallel columns of the traditional Tai Tham (Lanna) script and the modern Thai script, since most contemporary Kham Muang speakers read Thai script rather than the historical Lanna writing system. Earlier scripture portions in Northern Thai date back to 1867, and an earlier Northern Thai New Testament in Lanna script dates to the early twentieth century; the complete New Testament in this edition was finished in 2017.
