Numanggang Bible (NOPNTT)

Overview

The Numanggang Bible contains Genesis, Exodus, Psalms, and the New Testament in the Numanggang language of Papua New Guinea, published in 2005 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] The New Testament was dedicated in 2006, and subsequent work has included Old Testament translation and New Testament revision. [2] Numanggang is a Trans-New Guinea language spoken by approximately 4,700 people across twelve villages and six smaller hamlets in Morobe Province. [3] The language had never been written before the late 1970s, when a translation agency began language development work in 1977. [2] The translation project has also supported literacy efforts in the community, with teachers establishing schools to teach children to read in the Numanggang language. [2]
