Hakhun Tangsa Audio Bible Portions (NSTNLC)

Overview

This resource contains audio Bible portions in the Hakhun dialect of Tangsa (Naga, Tangshang), produced by the 2018 Hakhun Literature Development Committee and distributed through the Faith Comes By Hearing platform [1]. The Hakhun are one of approximately eighty distinct ethnic and linguistic communities grouped under the broader Tangsa or Tangshang identity; they live primarily in the Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh, India, with additional communities in Myanmar's Sagaing Division [2]. Christianity is the predominant religion of the Hakhun community, and the 2018 Literature Development Committee represents a community-led initiative to develop Hakhun orthography and produce Scripture resources in the Hakhun mother tongue [3]. A mobile application (Tangsa Hakhun English Bible) presenting these texts side-by-side with English versions was also developed for distribution in India and Myanmar [4]. The Tangsa language cluster (ISO 639-3: nst) includes numerous varieties, and the Hakhun dialect has been the subject of academic linguistic documentation including a descriptive grammar completed at the University of Oregon [5].
