Delo 2006 Edition (NTRWBT)

Overview

The Delo 2006 Edition, titled Wuruburɛ Nombia Kpaakpaa Nɔɔkebakesee Wɔle, is the first New Testament in the Delo language (also known as Ntrubo), spoken by approximately 19,000 people in the southeast corner of the Nkwanta district in Ghana's Volta Region and extending into Togo. [1] [2] The translation was produced by Wycliffe Bible Translators and the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT), based in Tamale. [3] Notably, GILLBT's executive director Sylvester Kwame Nkrumah, a native Delo speaker, worked with Seed Company to finish the New Testament in his own heart language. [3] The Ntrubo people trace their origins to Atakpame in Togo, and Christianity arrived in the community during the post-war missionary expansion of the 1950s. [1]
