Nusu New Testament Portions (NUFWBT)

Overview

The Nusu New Testament Portions contain selected Scripture passages in the Nusu language, a Loloish language of the Lolo-Burmese branch of Sino-Tibetan spoken by approximately 12,600 people mainly in Fugong and Lushui counties of the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, southwestern China, with some speakers also in northern Myanmar. [1] [2] Nusu has three recognized dialects: Central Nusu (also called Zhizhiluo-Laomudeng or Miangu; about 6,000 speakers in southern Fugong County), Southern Nusu (about 4,000 speakers in northern Lushui County), and Northern Nusu (about 2,000 speakers in Fugong County). [1] The text is written in a Latin-based script, though literacy in the Nusu language among its speakers remains limited. [1] This 2010 publication by Wycliffe Bible Translators represents one of only a small number of Scripture translations into minority languages of China's Yunnan Province.
