New Testament Portions in Nahuatl, Tlamacazapa (NUZNTP)
Overview
This volume contains New Testament portions in Tlamacazapa Nahuatl (ISO 639-3: nuz), a severely endangered Uto-Aztecan language spoken in the mountainous Tlamacazapa area of Guerrero state, western central Mexico. [1] With only approximately 1,550 speakers remaining, the language is classified as threatened, used by adults in the community but not universally transmitted to younger generations. [2] The publication, issued in 2004, represents one of the few Scripture resources available in this isolated Nahuatl variety. Tlamacazapa Nahuatl is distinguished from other Guerrero Nahuatl dialects by its geographic isolation in mountainous terrain and substrate influences from neighboring Otomanguean languages. [3]
