Overview

The Pampanga 1994 Popular Version (Ing Mayap a Balita Biblia) is a dynamic equivalence translation of the Bible into Kapampangan (Pampango), published by the Philippine Bible Society. The New Testament was first published in 1981, and the complete Bible followed in 1994. [1] Kapampangan Scripture translation has a history reaching back to the early American period: the first Bible portion in Kapampangan was published in 1901, the New Testament in 1908, and a complete formal equivalence Bible in 1915. [2] In 1970, Venancio Samson, who would become the official translator of the Kapampangan Bible, drew the Philippine Bible Society's attention to the ongoing dispute over Kapampangan orthography, a matter he worked to resolve ahead of his translation work. [3] The Popular Version title, Ing Mayap a Balita Biblia, translates to "The Good News Bible" in Kapampangan.
