Overview

The San Juan Atzingo Popoloca New Testament, titled "Tí Nuevo Testamento cuènte Inchéni Jesucristo Cʼóna Nquìva" in the vernacular, is a 1982 translation of the New Testament into the Popoloca variety spoken in San Juan Atzingo, Puebla, Mexico. [1] The translation was produced by Wycliffe Bible Translators. San Juan Atzingo Popoloca (ISO 639-3: poe) belongs to the Southwestern Popolocan branch of the Oto-Manguean language family and is also known as Eastern Popoloca or Ngigua. [2] The language is spoken by approximately 3,690 people and is classified as threatened. [2] This translation is one of two Popoloca New Testaments published in 1982, alongside the San Marcos Tlalcoyalco Popoloca edition (PLSWBT), reflecting parallel translation efforts for distinct but related Popoloca communities in the Puebla highlands.
