Yakut New Testaments and Old Testament Portions (SAHIBT)

Overview

This edition contains the New Testament and Old Testament portions (Psalms) in the Yakut (Sakha) language, published by the Institute for Bible Translation in 2009. The title "New Testaments" (plural) reflects that this compilation includes elements from multiple published editions of New Testament books — IBT first published the Yakut New Testament in 2004, with a reprint and second edition following in 2008 — combined here with the Psalms (first published in 2009). [1] Translation of Scripture into Yakut has a long history: the Four Gospels were first published in 1858 and reprinted in 1898. [1] Modern IBT work began with a Children's Bible in 1994, followed by individual books including Mark (1995), Luke and Acts (1998), and John with epistles of James and 1-3 John (2000), culminating in the 2004 New Testament. [1] Key contributors to the Yakut translation project include translators Dmitri Sivtsev and Raisa Sibiryakova, editors Sargylana Leontyeva and Nikolai Efremov, IBT translation consultant Alexei Somov, and long-time consultant David J. Clark, who was awarded a II Degree Medal in 2019 for his work on the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. [2]
