Overview

This is the New Testament in the Dongxiang language, published by River Street Publishing (2020-2024). Dongxiang is a Mongolic language spoken by approximately 775,000 people, primarily in the Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture of southwestern Gansu Province, China, with additional communities in Xinjiang, Qinghai, and Ningxia provinces [1]. The Dongxiang people are predominantly Muslim, and only about 12% achieve literacy in Chinese [1]. This New Testament represents a significant milestone as the first major Scripture publication in the Dongxiang language, with Bible portions also becoming available in 2024 [1]. The translation uses Latin script rather than Chinese characters.
