Shua — whose speakers call themselves Shwakhwe, meaning "people of the salty area" — is a Khoe language of the Kalahari spoken by approximately 2,300 people in central Botswana around the township of Nata and in parts of the Chobe District to the north. The language belongs to the Khoe-Kwadi family and is considered endangered, with fluent speakers increasingly concentrated among older adults. Spoken Worldwide, a member of the Every Tribe Every Nation (ETEN) alliance committed to ending Bible poverty, produced this audio Scripture resource using Oral Bible Translation methodology, beginning with a core set of Bible stories spanning creation through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. The project is part of a broader multi-language effort in Botswana that also included CireCire, Ju|hoansi, and Thimbukushu, with the long-term goal of recording complete books of the Bible. The recordings are hosted's Bible.is platform and are available in both MP3 and Opus audio formats.
