Siamou — known to its speakers as Sɛmɛ — is a linguistically isolated language spoken by approximately 40,000 people in the Province of Kénédougou in western Burkina Faso, centered around the towns of Orodara and Tin and surrounding villages including Bandougou and Diéri. Scholars have debated its classification: long grouped with Kru, more recent linguistic analysis by Roger Blench (2013) and Pierre Vogler (2015) has suggested that Siamou bears little resemblance to Kru, with some researchers treating it as a language isolate unrelated to Niger-Congo. Porte Ouverte de la Grace ("Open Door of Grace"), a Christian organization active in Burkina Faso, produced this audio New Testament in Siamou, which is hosted's Bible.is platform and covers all 24 chapters of the Gospel of Luke among other New Testament books. The audio format makes the New Testament accessible to Siamou speakers, many of whom engage primarily with oral communication.
