Siroi Bible (SSDWBT)

Overview

The Siroi Bible contains portions of the Old Testament and the complete New Testament, with the New Testament first published in 1975 and additional material copyrighted in 1999. [1] Siroi (also known as Suroi) is a Rai Coast language of the Trans-New Guinea family, spoken by approximately 1,310 people in Madang Province, Papua New Guinea, where it also serves as a local trade language. [2] Linguistic documentation of Siroi was carried out by SIL linguist Margaret A. Wells, who published a comprehensive Siroi Grammar in 1979 through Pacific Linguistics. [3] The translation was produced by Wycliffe Bible Translators and published by WBT in Kangaroo Ground, Victoria, Australia.
