Seimat New Testament (SSGWBT)

Overview

The Seimat New Testament was published in 2012 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, representing the first piece of written literature ever produced in the Seimat language. [1] The translation was the work of Beata Wozna and Theresa Wilson, who spent over 20 years in Papua New Guinea with Wycliffe Bible Translators, partnering with SIL PNG to develop a trial alphabet for Seimat in 2003 and building a library of books and teaching resources for Seimat elementary schools. [1] [2] Seimat is an Austronesian language spoken by approximately 2,600 people on the Ninigo and Anchorite Islands in Western Manus Province, Papua New Guinea. [3] The language has a quinary numeral system, where numbers from six to nine are compounds based on five combined with the words for one through four. [2]
