Tabaru Today's Tabaru Version, 2008 (TBYLAI)

Overview

Today's Tabaru Version is the first New Testament translation in the Tabaru language, published in 2008 by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia). Tabaru belongs to the North Halmahera language family, a group of non-Austronesian (West Papuan) languages spoken on the northern peninsula of Halmahera Island in North Maluku province, Indonesia. [1] It is closely related to Tobelo, Galela, Modole, Pagu, and Loloda, all spoken in the same region. [1] The Tabaru people inhabit an area near the center of the northern Halmahera peninsula. This translation made the New Testament available for the first time in the Tabaru language, supplementing the Indonesian-language Bibles previously used by Tabaru-speaking Christians.
