Toma Bible Portions (TODPBT)

Overview

The Toma Bible Portions (GALA Sɛʋɛi) were published in 2013 by Pioneer Bible Translators in partnership with the Bible Society in Guinea-Conakry. [1] Toma (also called Loma or Löömàgòòi) is a Southwestern Mande language of the forest region of southeastern Guinea and adjacent parts of northern Liberia, closely related to Loma of Liberia but distinct enough to require separate literature. [2] The language is spoken by approximately 261,000 people in Guinea. In the 1930s, Wido Zobo of Boneketa in Liberia invented a syllabary for the related Loma language, though today Latin script is standard for both Loma and Toma. [2]
