Bible in Uyghur Cyrillic (UIGCYR)

Overview

The Mukeddes Kalam ("Holy Scripture") in Uyghur Cyrillic script is a full Bible translation completed in 2010 by the Uyghur Bible Translation Committee. [1] This Cyrillic edition serves Uyghur readers primarily in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, where Cyrillic script was adopted during the Soviet era and remains in use among Uyghur diaspora communities. [1] It is one of four script editions of the same translation, published simultaneously in Arabic, Cyrillic, Latin, and Pinyin scripts. The translation closely follows the original Hebrew and Greek source texts and draws on the earlier Kashgar Uyghur translation (1910-1950) by Mehmet Xukri and the Swedish Missionary Society. [1][2] The first complete Uyghur Bible was published by the British and Foreign Bible Society in Cairo in 1950, completed in India after Swedish missionaries were expelled from Xinjiang. [2]
