Vagla 1977 Edition (VAGWBT)

Overview

The Vagla 1977 Edition is among the earliest Bible translations produced through the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT), which was established in 1962 as SIL International's first work in Africa. [1] [2] The Vagla people live in a crescent-shaped chain of villages centered on the town of Tuna in the Bole District of northern Ghana. [3] The copyright is held jointly by the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation in cooperation with Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. GILLBT has since continued translation work in Vagla, completing both Old and New Testaments, along with a Vagla dictionary and literacy materials. [2] Paul Neeley and Philip Dakori later contributed Vagla Scripture songs (1993) and additional reading materials through GILLBT. [4]
