Wolaytta Bible (Latin) (WALSIM)

Overview

The Wolaytta Bible in Latin script was published in 2004 by Kale Heywet Church in partnership with SIM (Serving in Mission), which has worked on Wolaytta Scripture since the early twentieth century. [1] The translation was led by SIM missionaries Dr. Bruce Adams and Betty Adams, who created two writing systems for Wolaytta: an Ethiopic script system in 1973 and a Latin script system in 1995. [1] They worked alongside a team of three Wolaytta translators. [1] The New Testament in Ethiopic characters was published in 1981, followed by a Latin-script NT in 1997, and the complete Bible by 2004. [1] Bible portions in Wolaytta date back to 1934. [2]
