Overview
This publication contains New Testament portions in the Waddar language (ISO 639-3: wbq), published by Bridge Connectivity Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The scope includes ten books: Mark, Luke, Acts, 1 Corinthians, Galatians, 1-2 Thessalonians, 1-2 Timothy, and Titus. Waddar is a Dravidian language belonging to the South-Central (Telugu) branch, spoken by approximately 200,000 people as of the 2011 census. [1] The language is primarily spoken in the Indian states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu by members of the Waddar community, a traditionally nomadic and denotified tribe. [1] The community's roots trace back to Odra Desa in present-day Odisha, from where they migrated southward during medieval times. [1] Waddar has no standardized orthography due to its primarily oral tradition, and fluency is stronger among older generations as younger speakers increasingly shift to regional dominant languages such as Telugu, Marathi, and Kannada.
