Waja (WJAEBL)
Overview
This publication contains New Testament portions in the Waja language (ISO 639-3: wja), including Matthew, Colossians, 1-2 Thessalonians, 1-2 Timothy, Philemon, James, and 1-3 John. It was produced by The Seed Company in collaboration with the Language Developers and Bible Translators Association (LDBT). The Waja people inhabit the east-southern corner of Gombe State, primarily in the Balanga Local Government Area, with speakers also found in Adamawa State, Nigeria. [1] Waja is classified as an Adamawa language within the Niger-Congo family and has two dialects: Deruwo and Wajan Kasa. [1] LDBT Nigeria is a non-denominational organization that has worked with multiple minority languages in Nigeria, coordinating Bible translation efforts across the region. [2]
