Bu New Testament (ZBUEBL)
Overview
The Bu New Testament contains portions of Scripture (Mark, Acts, and James) in the Bu language (ISO 639-3: zbu), also known as Zaranda or Buu, a South Bauchi West Chadic language spoken in the south of Bauchi State, Nigeria [1][2]. The translation was published in 2025 through a collaboration between The Seed Company and the Language Developers and Bible Translators Association (LDBT), a Nigerian organization formed in 2015 to support mother-tongue Bible translation and language development in the Bauchi State region [3]. LDBT was established when speakers of several local languages, including Geji and Zul, agreed to form an association to sustain translation work, and The Seed Company has partnered with LDBT since 2016 [3].
