Texmelucan Zapotec Bible (ZPZTBL)
Overview
The Texmelucan Zapotec Bible contains the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs, originally published in 1989 with a revised copyright in 2004. The primary SIL linguist for the language was Charles H. Speck, who lived in San Lorenzo Texmelucan from 1972 to 1980 under SIL sponsorship. [1] Speck published extensively on the language, including studies of its suprasegmental phonology (1978), verb system (1984), positional verbs (1994), and a major collection of oral literature ("Zapotec Oral Literature: El Folklore de San Lorenzo Texmelucan," 1998). [1] [2] Texmelucan Zapotec is part of the western branch of the Zapotec language family, spoken by approximately 4,100 people in the Sola de Vega District of Oaxaca.
