The Gospel in Xanaguía Zapoteco (ZSRWBT)

Overview

The Gospel in Xanaguía Zapoteco is a New Testament translation in the Southern Rincón Zapotec language, completed in 1992 by Wycliffe Bible Translators and first published by La Liga Bíblica, with an electronic edition following in 2009. Catalogued by SIL and Ethnologue as zapoteco del Rincón Sur, it circulates under the Xanaguía community name; the Xanaguía community in the Southern Rincón area is the primary dialect base for the translation. Southern Rincón Zapotec is spoken by approximately 12,000 people in the Sierra Norte region of Oaxaca, Mexico, and is distinct from the related Rincón Zapotec (ISO: zar) spoken further north in the Villa Alta District. The wider Rincón Zapotec group numbers roughly 41,000 speakers across the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca.
