Mr. Ellerton of the Church Missionary Society presented this version of the New Testament to the Calcutta Bible Society in 1801. In 1802, he finished the Old Testament to finish the so-called Calcutta Bible which would go on to become the most popular Bible in the Bengali language. The Bengali language is spoken by more than 210 million people in Bangladesh in South Asia.
