Cambodia, officially the Kingdom of Cambodia, is a Southeast Asian nation with a predominantly Khmer-speaking population. The official language is Khmer, which is spoken by over 96% of the population as of 2021. Khmer is the primary language used in government, education, and daily communication. Minority languages spoken in Cambodia include indigenous languages such as Cham, Jarai, and Tampuan, as well as Vietnamese and Chinese, which are spoken by Vietnamese and Chinese ethnic communities, respectively. English and French are also spoken in Cambodia, with English increasingly becoming the preferred second language, particularly among the younger generation and in urban areas.
