Eswatini, officially the Kingdom of Eswatini and formerly known as Swaziland, is a small landlocked country in Southern Africa. The two official languages are Swati (also called siSwati) and English. Swati, a Bantu language, is spoken by the majority of the population and serves as the primary language for daily communication. As of 2021, approximately 90% of the population speaks Swati as their first language. English is used for government administration, formal education, and international communication. While the majority of the population is proficient in both official languages, English is more commonly spoken in urban areas and among the educated population. Zulu and Tsonga are also spoken by minority communities within the country.
