The Hani (also known as Ha Nhi in Vietnamese, or Hani Proper) are a Tibeto-Burman people of the Loloish branch, with approximately 1,003,000 speakers across China, Vietnam, and Laos. The primary concentration of Hani speakers is in Yunnan Province, China (around 753,000 speakers), but a significant community of around 27,000 Hani speakers live in Vietnam, primarily in the northern highlands of Lào Cai and Lai Châu provinces. The Word For Vietnam, a Christian ministry focused on reaching unreached peoples within Vietnam, produced an audio New Testament for the Vietnamese Hani community. Accessing scripture in the Hani language is particularly significant given that mainstream Vietnamese Christianity has limited reach into the highland minority communities, and the Hani of Vietnam have historically had almost no scripture in their mother tongue. This recording, hosted through Faith Comes By Hearing's Bible.is platform, represents the first audio scripture resource produced specifically for the Vietnam Hani community.
