Nepali Bible (NEPERV)

Overview

The Nepali Bible (NEPERV) is the Nepali Easy-to-Read Version (पवित्र बाइबल, listed as NERV on YouVersion), a Bible translation in the Nepali language (ISO 639-3: nep), an Indo-Aryan language and the official language of Nepal, written in the Devanagari script and spoken by hundreds of millions of people primarily in Nepal. It forms part of Bible League International's Easy-to-Read series, which the agency lists as available in full Bible form across 24 languages including Nepali. Several major Nepali Bible translations have been produced over the years: the Bible Society of India published a Revised Version in 1977, the Nepal Bible Society published the widely used Nepali New Revised Version (NNRV) in 1997, and the World Bible Translation Center published an Easy-to-Read Version in 2004 [1]. The Nepal Bible Society, established in 1975 and officially registered with the government in 2007, is the primary authorized organization for Bible translation, publication, and distribution in Nepal [2].
