The Senga Audio Bible is the result of a landmark oral translation project undertaken by the Bible and Literature Translation Association (BiLTA) of Zambia — originally founded in 2012 as the Senga Bible and Literature Translation Association before expanding its scope and adopting its current name in 2021. The Senga are a Bantu-speaking people of eastern and northern Zambia who, prior to this project, had no Scripture in their mother tongue — written or oral — in the community's 2,000-year history. Using Faith Comes By Hearing's Oral Bible Translation methodology and technology, Senga community members translated the Scripture orally, beginning with the Gospel of Luke, then Acts, and later Genesis, producing a natural and faithful rendering without the need for a prior written translation. The project garnered international attention through the documentary "One Matchstick: The Senga Fire," which premiered in December 2022 and documented the transformative reception of Scripture in the Senga community. Both Old and New Testament portions are now available.
