Tangoa New Testament (TGPWBT)

Overview

The Tangoa New Testament was published in 2010 by Wycliffe Bible Translators in the Tangoa language (also called Movono), an Austronesian/Oceanic language spoken on Tangoa Island off the southern coast of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. The language has an estimated 370-800 speakers and is considered potentially endangered. [1] Tangoa Island has deep ties to the Presbyterian Church, which established the Tangoa Training Institute there in the 1890s. Draft Gospels were completed by 1968 and used by the Presbyterian Church, generating considerable interest and a request for the Epistles. The full New Testament was completed by 2010. [1]

Tangoa (ISO 639-3: tgp) is spoken by approximately 800 people in Vanuatu, Enlarged Area. [Glottolog: tang1347]
