Serbia

Serbia, officially the Republic of Serbia, is a landlocked country situated in Southeast Europe, in the central and western part of the Balkan Peninsula. It shares borders with Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, and has a disputed border with Kosovo. Covering an area of approximately 88,361 square kilometers, it has a population of about 6.7 million as of 2023. The capital and largest city is Belgrade. The official language is Serbian. Serbia operates as a unitary parliamentary constitutional republic. The economy is classified as upper-middle-income, with key sectors including manufacturing, services, agriculture, and energy. Serbia is known for its rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and diverse landscapes ranging from plains to mountains. The country is a member of international organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and is a candidate for membership in the European Union.
