The official language of Belize is English, and it is the primary language spoken by the local population. However, due to its location in Central America, Spanish is also widely spoken, especially in areas close to the border with Mexico and Guatemala. Belizean Creole, a creole language based on English with elements of African and Caribbean languages, is also spoken by the majority of the population. Additionally, there are also small communities of speakers of indigenous languages, such as Maya and Garifuna. The literacy rate in Belize is around 80%, with slightly higher rates for women than for men. Religion:
Belize is a religiously diverse country, with no official religion. The majority of the population identifies as Christian, with Roman Catholicism being the largest denomination, followed by Anglicanism, Methodism, and Pentecostalism. Other religious groups, such as Seventh-day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are also present in smaller numbers. There are also small communities of Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus, as well as adherents of traditional indigenous beliefs. Ethnic Groups:
